Patchwork Furniture

homiescrop2113.jpg So I have the best husband in all the world because he nominated me for The Homies award from Apartment Therapy. Who could love my blog more than him, right?? But since you love it too, go vote for me and everyone else you love for fun. Just go here and sign in or sign up for an account if you don't have one already.

Don't hold back on the votes, vote for anyone in any category that you want. The love makes everyone feel better during these dark and cold winter days!!! Also, nominate some of your regular blogs if you don't see them up there already (I'm may have nominated a few ;). I can't wait until I can spend some time checking out all the blogs that have been nominated. I've really made some great blog friends on here and I can't wait to make more!

I forget why but Aaron and I were recently talking upholstery and chairs and somehow he came up with the idea of doing a patchwork design. Little did he know (because trust me, he didn't, it was a total off the cuff remark meant to be funny and a joke) there is a market for that stuff!

So I want to ask you, what do you think of patchwork furniture? Yay or Nay? I recently saw this vintage wingback on OKL (for over a grand!) and can't quite decide what I think. I do LOVE that it is upholstered in vintage saris (why it is so expensive).

Here's some more patchwork options. I have to admit that I love this Chesterfield. It feels like something from Anthropologie...what do you think?

Since I'm in the market for some vintage chairs to go with our new table, I'm keeping my eyes open. These are neat - they almost remind of a global flag design.

This settee in more muted blues is definitely gorgeous...but would I want it in my home??

There's always the option to do it on the floor (not like that!). Check out all the furniture in this room, isn't it awesome? And I'm just dying to see that chandelier in full view!

So what is your opinion of patchwork furniture? Do you like it? In someone else's house, just not yours?

  1. I like your patchwork chesterfield better than mine!

Patchwork furniture is something I can admire, but I don't think I could live with, except maybe as a rug or the fabric on dining chairs. Something relatively low-key.

    1. Same for me I think. I don't think I could do a chesterfield but then again, I might take a chesterfield in any fabric!

  3. I just voted!
Also, I like patchwork furniture in rugs and in small pieces – like a bench or an ottoman. Otherwise it's too funky for me :)

    1. Thanks Ainhoa! I bench/ottoman would be a nice way to do it without over doing it for sure!

  4. I love that Chesterfield, maybe not in my house, but it's nice to look at! I think patchwork could be really cute in a kiddos room, especially a nursery. I'm not sure I could do it in the living room though.

  5. I think one accent piece would be cute; like the first chair you posted! Very unique =)

  6. I think patchwork furniture can work in the right context. For example: I love the Chesterfield you've shown but I'm not a huge fan of the chair from OKL or the blue settee. Maybe the patchwork pieces you choose determines the overall outcome of the piece?

    1. Yep! I think the fabric choices could definitely make or break it!

  8. Surprisingly, patchwork isn't really my thing. Odd, since Anthropologie is my favorite store in the history of ever, and I really love having at least one funky thing in each room.
But you may have just tempted me with that blue settee...

  9. I think it's interesting, I could do it in small doses. Funny, I saw a patchwork furniture collection on display at Hobby Lobby the other day and it made me think teenage girl too! I love a Chesterfield too...but it's such a big piece I think it would make me feel kind of schlumpy after awhile. Or maybe like I'm tired and sick and just want to crawl under a quilt. Not usually the mood I'm going after for a room. LOL.
